Ringing in Change
A New Birth of Freedom is the theme of the 56th Presidential Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States. When the clock strikes noon on January 20th, 2009 President-Elect Barack Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden will take the oath of the highest offices of our country on the steps of the Capitol in our nation's capital. Millions of people are making plans to attend the swearing-in in Washington, DC as well as the parade, but there are millions who will be at home wishing to be part of the inaugural experience. The Obama-Biden campaign was run on the premise of inclusion, looking after the interest of the people, and change. Well look to this blog in the next week for a way those "outside the beltway" (Washington DC area) can participate in this historic inauguration in their own home towns. The National Obama People's Ball Initiative proposes to extend the inaugural experience and celebration to people across the country.
"But above all I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It belongs to you. It belongs to you." Barack Obama's acceptance speech, November 4, 2008
